Louis Gossett Jr. (1936-2024) was a towering figure in Hollywood, earning both an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Emmy Award for his captivating performances. He broke barriers as the first African American actor to win the Supporting Actor Oscar for his unforgettable role in the film “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
