​This season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta has certainly had it’s ups and downs but it seemed to take a turn for the better when fans of the show finally got a chance to see what went down at Cynthia’s Bachelorette party, but now I’m starting to wonder if everything is ok with Porsha Williams.

​The City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) invites local metro Atlanta artists to submit proposals for two new public art installations supported by the office's Public Art Program.

Sculptors interested in participating can submit pre-existing, three-dimensional (3D) sculptures for consideration in our Temporary Art Program. The selected artwork will reside in Hardy Ivy Park, a location in downtown Atlanta, for up to two years and contribute to downtown Atlanta's cultural amenities. 

The selected artist will be awarded an honorarium not to exceed $3,000 paid over the two-year period while retaining ownership of the artwork.

An art selection committee will assist the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs' Public Art Program in the selection process.
The deadline to submit a sculpture proposal is Friday, April 30, 2021, at 5 PM EDT.

Submission Requirements
For consideration, submit the following:

• Two to Three high-resolution images (minimum of 300 dpi) of previous outdoor art projects.
• Two high-resolution images (minimum of 300 dpi) sharing no more than two proposals of pre-existing sculptures. 
  • The artwork must be available immediately upon selection and acceptance.
• A one-page document with images of your artwork providing information identifying the title, year created, materials used, and location for each artwork. (Word document preferred) 
• A resume with your artist bio, contact information, and home address. (Word document preferred) 
• home address showing that you live in one of the metro counties surrounding Atlanta; these counties include Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton, Coweta, Douglas, Fayette, and Henry.

​URBAN ONE HONORS, will pay special homage to the International Sweethearts of Rhythm. The critically acclaimed, all-female jazz band of the 1930s included Helen Jones Woods, a founding member and mother of Urban One Founder and Chairwoman, Cathy Hughes. The Sweethearts band, comprised of 17 ethnically diverse members who achieved international accolades despite discrimination, sexism and Jim Crow – to become symbols of success against adversity.
​URBAN ONE HONORS will air on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 9 p.m. ET/8C on TV One and will be simulcast for the first time on TV One’s sister network, CLEO TV. 

​The annual awards program will feature three performances dedicated to 'The Sweethearts.' Each musical selection will commemorate electrifying performances of the jazz and soul ensemble's hit singles with a modern twist. The ceremony will also feature with talented, contemporary, female performers including Jazmine Sullivan, Da Brat, Le'Andria Johnson, Avery Sunshine, and the all-female house band Kim Burse and the KB Players.

​Grammy-Award-winning gospel artist Erica Campbell and award-winning journalist, author, and syndicated columnist Roland Martin will host the event. This year's theme is 'Women Leading the Change' and will highlight the extraordinary contributions of women in business, media, health, politics, and community outreach, who are leading impactful change within the Black community. Now in its third year, Urban One Honors was created to acknowledge and pay homage to individuals and organizations whose work significantly impacts culture and society- at large.
 
This year's URBAN ONE HONORS will commemorate the myriad achievements of women leaders who are blazing trails and creating new pathways for others in their respective areas of expertise. Categories of recognition reflect the tireless effort and triumphant accomplishments achieved by the honorees and include: 
 
·    Voting Rights Champion dedicated to a fearless leader whose efforts help to build political infrastructure by turning out voters and protecting their votes. 
 
·    Business Alchemist presented to a leader tapped for successfully breaking the glass ceiling to blaze new trails in corporate America. 
 
·    Investigative Journalism Crusader bestowed upon a media maven who is reframing the national conversation by covering the impediments and contributions made by Black Americans. 
 
·    Health Equality Advocate awarded to a champion of health who answered the call to eliminate institutional barriers preventing healthcare to those in her community. 
 
·    Reparations Ambassador who is working to break down systemic racism and barriers that have held African Americans back. 
 
·    Family Needs Ambassador presented to a resilient provider of direct service and resources to individuals in crisis within the community she serves. 
    
The inspiring night of excellence will also feature exciting musical performances, unprecedented collaborations, and surprise appearances to be announced in the coming months.

​The hit autobiographical series UNCENSORED explores the lives of your favorite personalities as they provide first-hand accounts of their success and the obstacles they faced throughout their careers. This week’s episode hits a high note with R&B trailblazer KEM. The "Love Calls" singer is a three-time Grammy-nominated artist. However, his journey to success wasn't easy. He struggled with addiction and homelessness before using music to help him find his way through.

All-new episodes of TV One’s original, docu-series' UNSUNG and UNCENSORED continue this Sunday, April 11. UNSUNG leads the night with Keith Washington at 9 p.m. ET/8C, immediately followed by UNCENSORED with KEM at 10 p.m. ET/9C. 
This season, fans are treated to a sneak-peek look at episodes with the new digital series, Unwind with Syleena Johnson. Each episode will be published on TVOne.TV and TV One’s social media platforms. ​Singer Kem hits us up with a new single, Lie To Me!!!

If you live in a particular region of the country, I'm sure you have seen a new grocery supermarket chain blossoming called Lidl.  Although the chain is has been around since 1973, it's stores first opened in the US in 2017.

Personally, I can say that I have seen the increase of Lidl's presence in the Atlanta area.  Just off the top of my head, I can think of at least 3 stores near my home.

....but let me get to why we are actually posting this blog......Have you ever seen a Lidl commerical on tv or online?  If so you may have noticed this guy questioning the avocodos!!!!!

Like always, we are so excited to see our friends and supporters making moves..... In addition to being an actor, Emrah Kotan, is also a music instructor and classically trained percussionist.   He's toured with one of our favorite artists, India Arie, and headlined Jazz In The Alley, a summer jazz concert series in which  When We Speak TV is a co-sponsor.

The official trailer of For The Love of Money (2021) is now available.

This time it about singer/actor Quan Howell.  For those that don't know, Quan has been a guest on When We Speak TV, years ago....and someone that we definitely consider as family.
Most of you may know the song that he lead with Sounds of Blackness......."Hold On, Change is Coming".  He was also in some of Tyler Perry's early plays like, Madea's Family Reunion.

Anyway, we recently saw on Quan's social media that he is in the new movie, For The Love Of Money, directed by Melvin Childs.  For The Love of Money is based in Atlanta but being filmed in Oklahoma City.  

We don't know much about the movie right now but we know that it stars some big names. It features Katt Williams and Keri Hilson as the leads, as well as, D.C. Young Fly, LisaRaye McCoy, Keith Sweat, Rotimi, Lyfe Jennings, and Jason Mitchell.

When We Speak TV was very familiar with Terrell Carter's career as a singer and his appearance in several Tyler Perry productions, but we had no idea that there was a more surprising personal life story. 

We are so excited to see that another When We Speak TV guest is doing big things!!!  Congrats to our friend, actress Chandra Currelley, who will star in Tyler Perry's new series "Bruh".

Not only was Terrell Carter in the hit show, Empire and the Christmas movie, Kiss Me For Christmas, but Terrell is also on A House Divided Season 3.

​Little Women: Atlanta returns with a two-hour block of fan binging programing beginning with the Little Women: Atlanta Kickoff Special on January 22nd at 9pm ET/PT.
Starting on January 29th the series will premiere 90-minute supersized episodes at 9pm ET/PT every Friday night, followed by the all-new 30 minute after show, Little Women: Atlanta Unfiltered, hosted by Loni Love (The Real).  

Each episode of ATL Homicide follows the thirty-year Atlanta PD veterans (Vince Velazquez and David Quinn) as they reveal how they solved tragic crimes committed in the Atlanta metro area while working side by side as partners in the homicide division. 

The hour-long show will dive deep into Quinn and Velazquez’s personal experiences as detectives as they narrate step-by-step some of their most bone-chilling cases. The dramatic stories, based on true events have been re-created through flashbacks and showcase actors, Angelo Diaz as David Quinn and Christopher Diaz as Vince Velazquez. 

The retelling of these investigations take the viewer on an adventure of mystery and intrigue. In its third season ATL HOMICIDE brings all new stories of real and raw experiences as the detectives seek to deliver justice on behalf of the victims. 
 
In the season premiere episode, Quinn and Vince investigate the tragic murder of a young father gunned down at a gas station. The detectives narrow in on a local drug dealer as the suspect, but as they near the finish line, they find that their closest ally may hold the darkest secrets in this complicated investigation. Throughout the season, ATL HOMICIDE brings all-new stories of real and raw experiences as the detectives seek to deliver justice on behalf of the victims.
