Multi-faceted emerging Atlanta artist Damez returns with a hot new track "Pretty Boy Freestyle" inspired by rapstress Saweetie's hit single "Pretty Bitch Freestyle". Off the heels of "Ate That" and produced by the same producer, bckgrnd, the track showcases Damez in a more laid-back, West Coast-inspired vibe as he raps optimistically about his goals, the future and his confidence. Listen to "Pretty Boy Freestyle" here.
Damez has been consistently releasing music since 2014 and has been on the up and up since! Despite many hurdles, he remains focused on the exponential growth of his career. The recording artist closed out 2020 with a bang, from being featured in Billboard & GayTimes, gracing the covers of OUT & Atlanta Magazine, to opening up for legendary songstress and original dream girl Jennifer Holliday. Earlier this year, Damez released exclusive behind the scenes footage in his docuseries "GO HARD", to show fans a day in the life of a young rapper. The series is available on YouTube. The rap star is slated to perform at the popular music conference MOBI FEST in June. As you can see, Damez has shown no signs of slowing down. In fact, he's just getting started.

Facebook: facebook.com/kingDamez
Twitter:twitter.com/Damez
Website: www.damezmusic.com

Hailing from Atlanta, Damez is a rapper, singer, dancer, songwriter, and a rising voice in hip-hop. Primarily rap/hip-hop and R&B, he showcases his talents and versatility through an eclectic catalog of self-penned songs and choreography-heavy visuals. From his childhood, he has been through an unfortunate series of events such as the divorce of his parents and the horrific murder of his brother at the tender age of 17 (Google: “Justice For Ryan Henderson”). He found refuge in music by independently recording music and performing at live shows. He has since released a number of projects and singles globally on iTunes, Amazon and streaming platforms since his debut EP arrived via SoundCloud in 2014. Being black and LGBT in today’s challenging society has not always been an easy road for him, but he’s channeled the unique intersectionality of his life experiences in his music and hopes to be a voice for unique people everywhere.

"Pretty Boy Freestyle" is available for streaming on all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and TIDAL, or for purchase on iTunes & Amazon.

Escape by Tony Momrelle Lyrics

Good morning
Lets go and seize the day
Because its one I know we’ve never seen before
I know the times where in is feeling more than strange
But theres a lot of things to still be grateful for
Lets make a good situation
From the one we have and bridge the gap thats standing in the way
a little more imagination to remove the bad
And see the magic shining through the haze

Cos we’ve all had our fair share
Never did we think that this could be
Stuck in the middle like your going no where
If you feel that you agree
then wont you come with me

So lets go and find that place
Look for a future filled with brighter days
Just give it up now with no delay
Its where you need to be
Come and go with me

La la la la
Lets escape
La la la la
Lets escape

I know your patience is wearing thin
And defeat is knocking at the door
But you just Hold your ground now
And don’t you give in
Cos the battle there to win is yours

Set your mind and spirit free
Lay your troubles down and just take five
Just pull away its what you need
Oh and spend a little time
come and go with me

So lets go and find that place
Look for a future filled with brighter days
Just give it up now with no delay
Its where you need to be
Come and go with me

La la la la
Lets escape
La la la la
Lets escape

And oh I see it in your eyes
Its essential
That you get away from all the crowds
Oh get rid of the disguise
Do it now, do it now

Oh get up and get out of your stay of mind
Oh get up you gotta do it now
Oh get up and get out of your stay of mind
Oh get up you gotta do it now

So lets go and find that place
Look for a future filled with brighter days
Just give it up now with no delay
Its where you need to be
Come and go with me

La la la la
Lets escape
La la la la
Lets escape

ROBIN ROBERTS PRESENTS: MAHALIA

2/14/2021

Comments

Lifetime's highly anticipated gospel biopic Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia, will premiere Saturday, April 3 at 8:00pm ET/PT. An impressive list of Broadway stars including Tony® nominee Joaquina Kalukango (Slave Play), Jason Dirden (Fences), Olivia Washington(The Butler) and Rob Demery (Lovecraft Country) join the film which is directed by Tony® Award-winner Kenny Leon and stars Tony Award nominee, SAG and Grammy® Award winning actress Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) as the gospel legend and civil rights trailblazer.
In the movie, Dirden stars as Russell Roberts, the dashing, music-loving Reverend who falls for Mahalia when they first meet in the late 1940s while Kalukango takes on the role of Mildred, Mahalia’s talented and opinionated, long-time pianist. Washington portrays Estelle, a piano teacher Mahalia meets at church who goes on to become her life-long friend and Demery stars as the influential civil rights leader.

Born in New Orleans, Mahalia Jackson began singing at an early age and went on to become one of the most revered gospel figures in U.S. history, melding her music with the civil rights movement. Her recording of the song “Move on Up a Little Higher” sold millions of copies, skyrocketing her to international fame and gave her the opportunity to perform at diverse settings including in front of a racially integrated audience at the prestigious Carnegie Hall and at John F. Kennedy's inaugural ball. An active supporter of the Civil Rights Movement, Jackson sang at numerous rallies, including the March on Washington in 1963 alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in hopes that her music would encourage and inspire racial equality.
Mahalia Jacksoin Biopic Comes to Lifetime
From Rock’n Robin Productions and Lincoln Square Productions, Mahalia is executive produced by Robin Roberts and Linda Berman. Danielle Brooks and Kenny Leon are co-executive producers. Leon directs from a script written by Bettina Gilois and Todd Kreidler.

Meagan Good Death Saved My Life
ABOUT DEATH SAVED MY LIFE
On the surface it seems Jade (Meagan Good) has it all, a successful marketing career, a husband admired and respected in the community, and a young daughter they both dote on. But behind closed doors, her life is far from idyllic. Her husband Ed (Chiké Okonkwo) is a controlling man who is physically and psychologically abusive. When Jade decides to leave Ed, he tells her "If I can't have you, nobody will," a threat which becomes very real when she discovers he has hired someone to kill her. Knowing no one will believe her, Jade realizes the only way to escape Ed is to make him believe the hitman completed the job and that she is dead. La’Myia Good plays Jade’s sister Leigh. Death Saved My Life is produced by Jarrett Creative. Executive producers are Julie Insogna Jarrett, Seth Jarrett and Meagan Good. Seth Jarrett directs from a script written by Barbara Kymlicka.
