“Atlanta Track Club will deliver a virtual experience worthy of the Peachtree name to ensure that runners and walkers feel the community, camaraderie and competition of the world’s largest 10K,” said Rich Kenah, Executive Director of Atlanta Track Club and Race Director of the AJC Peachtree Road Race. “As coronavirus has spiked in recent weeks here in Georgia, we recognize that this decision is the best and only responsible way forward.” The 51st Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race will be held across the country and around the world as the race moves to a completely virtual event in 2020, Atlanta Track Club announced Wednesday. The Club, which organizes the Peachtree, had previously postponed the event from July 4 to Thanksgiving Day. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the Club concluded that a virtual race was the safest option for participants, volunteers, staff, and the hundreds of city and state employees, many of whom are first responders, who come together to help deliver the event to Atlanta each year. The Virtual Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race will still be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 26. Participants can complete the 10K between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. READ THE FULL ANNOUNCEMENT: AJC Peachtree Road Race to Be Held Virtually in 2020 FOLLOW AJC PEACHTREE ROAD RACEPeachtree Road Race website Peachtree Road Race on Facebook Peachtree Road Race on Twitter Peachtree Road Race on YouTube KEYWORDS AJC Peachtree Road Race - Peachtree Road Race - atlanta road race 2020 - atlanta track club registration - peachtree road race pictures - virtual race medal - peachtree road race 2020 READERS OF THIS ARTICLE ALSO ENJOYEDThe 50th Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race re-wrote the event’s history books with four brand new event records and the fastest 10K ever run on U.S. soil. NEWS SOURCE: BBCThe global population is set to shrink by the year 2100, and nations need to start preparing for the economic implications, according to researchers at the University of Washington. Fertility rates have fallen, partly due to increased access to education and contraception for women, so they say populations in some countries could shrink by more than half by the turn of the century. Globally, there would be twice as many people over 80 as under five, posing questions about how countries pay for aging populations, with migration likely to become essential. The length of our temporary closure is unclear at this time, but we are optimistic that it will only last a short while. I believe we will return stronger than ever to serving you, our incredible guests, putting on concerts, hosting private parties, and supporting our amazing team members, but for now, we are truly in survival mode.
