BRONNER BROS CANCELS AUGUST 2020 BEAUTY SHOW DUE TO COVID-19

5/19/2020

Comments

Presents exclusive digital format with education, virtual competitions, and beauty trend release #theshowwontstop

Picture
With the help of innovative technology, Bronner Bros. will be offering an exclusive digital experience designed to meet the needs of the multicultural beauty industry. The core of the virtual BB Show will be education and networking between stylists and brands. Other features include the opportunity to:
  • Connect: A digital marketplace will be available to exhibitors and buyers, where they can preview live demos of new products and services for sale
  • Elevate: Advanced educational classes on cut, color, weaves, natural haircare and other techniques, all presented by leading master instructors
  • Learn: A series of webinars on topics such as financial health, how to safely re-open your salon or barbershop, how to disaster proof your business, and maintaining your health behind-the-chair
  • Showcase: A hallmark of BB Shows, competitions will be live-streamed in an exciting and fun display of the industry’s top talent
COVID-19 has had a particularly devastating impact on the Black beauty industry. Multicultural barbers and stylists represent nearly 25% of all cosmetology professionals in the US and contribute to the textured haircare category’s estimated annual economic impact of $2.51 billion. According to a 2019 Nielsen Report, African Americans also account for nearly 86% of the total spend in the ethnic hair and beauty aids category.
“If my father, Nathaniel Bronner, Sr., was here, he would challenge us to find a way to maximize this moment. So, the Show must go on,” said James Bronner, SVP of Show Operations. “Our goal is to help the Black beauty industry stay inspired, engaged, and educated. We have faced challenges before, and there is no doubt that we will come out of this better and stronger—because we’re in this together.”

Julie Dexter is my Beyonce

5/18/2020

Comments

If you are a true "SPEAKER" that follows When We Speak TV, you will know that Julie Dexter was the first live music concert I attended when I moved to Atlanta in 2008.  Back then, I wasn't really familiar with the Atlanta music scene, nor any of the indie artists in the city but I was invited by my business partner, Chet, so I went......and to make a long story short, I have been a Julie Dexter fan ever since.
Picture
I always make the reference that Julie Dexter is my Beyonce.  What I mean by that is, although I would love to meet Beyonce, I get just as anxious when I see Julie Dexter, as I would if I saw Beyonce!  I really admire Julie because not only is she a great vocalist but she is also a supporter of When We Speak TV!  You may remember that a few years back, I sat down and spoke with her at the release of her album, New Again.
Picture
Since then, she and I have definitely seen one another on several occasions at musical events like the Atlanta Jazz Festival....and of course this year, she performed at the Jazz In The Alley Concert Series, which When We Speak TV is an official partner!
I think it goes without saying that Julie Dexter is one of our favorite people, that's why I am so excited to have the opportunity to speak with Julie Dexter for a segment of  What Do YOU Speak?
Definitely take a moment to watch it ...BELOW IS A SNIPPET FROM THE INTERVIEW ......and find who told Julie that, "The Best Thing A Woman Can Be Is A Singer" , which changed her life.  I hope you enjoy it!

NEWS SOURCE:  AJC

The latest Tyler Perry project is debuting Thursday, May 7, exclusively on the BET+ streaming service. “Bruh” is a dramedy focused on four 30-something friends who have known each other since college.
Picture
This is Perry’s second production exclusively for BET+ following the drama “Ruthless” about a woman trapped in a cult. The first three episodes of “Bruh” will be available at launch. A new show from the 24-episode season will then drop each week after that. The publicity materials note that “in a society where companionship between men of color is often misjudged and misrepresented, ‘Tyler Perry’s Bruh’ depicts a healthy image of black brotherhood; embracing vulnerability without playing on stereotypical hypermasculinity.”“Bruh” is a slang term popularized in African-American greek culture, referencing friends so close they’re more like brothers.
That is the case for John (Barry Brewer), Tom (Mahdi Cocci), Mike (Phillip Mullings Jr.) and Bill (Monti Washington), who are navigating different career and relationship paths while relying on each other for support. The publicists note: “Sometimes their love is tough and their honesty brutal, but they manage to see each other through every scenario with levity and laughter.” As usual, this entire season was written by Perry himself. He also directed and executive produced the series at Tyler Perry Studios.
