In response to the immense toll of the combined forces of COVID-19, recent racial unrest, and the intense economic instability currently facing many BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities, Burnaway will award ten grants of $500 ($5,000 total) to Black, Indigenous, and other artists of color in the South. You can contribute to this fund here. BIPOC artists living and working in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia are eligible to apply for this grant. Hammonds House Museum presents new free virtual program: Conversations about Jazz with Carl Anthony7/8/2020 NEWS SOURCE: Hatchett PRHammonds House Museum, through their new Hammonds House Digital programming, is creating and curating rich arts and cultural experiences that reach audiences beyond the walls of the museum. Conversations about Jazz and Other Distractions with Carl Anthony – July 9 through December 24, 2020 – every other Thursday from 7:30-8:30 pm Jazz is America’s classical music. Birthed in New Orleans in the late 19th and early 20th century, jazz would become American's popular music and enjoyed by audiences all over the world. Hammonds House Museum is thrilled to welcome former jazz radio host and founder of Notorious Jazz, Carl Anthony. Carl will take Hammonds House Digital audiences on a unique journey through the music and include artist talks, workshops, listening sessions and other opportunities to engage in this music called jazz.
